WordChain is a series of four apps for iOS and Android devices, aimed at building capable, confident Kiwi readers using New Zealand accents.
WordChain was recently featured in the government’s Dyslexia kete recommendations, but it’s not focused only on dyslexia: it provides the necessary practice and tools to help any kind of struggling reader become capable and confident.
Created by Christchurch literacy expert Betsy Sewell and educational multimedia experts Nectarine, it combines the latest research and reading pedagogy with a joyful, supportive experience that kids and teachers love.
Wordchain spent three years being tested and refined in Christchurch schools before going live on Apple App and Google Play stores. It’s had stunning reviews from teachers, parents and kids, and it’s one of the few products that lets Kiwi readers hear words and word fragments in a Kiwi accent.
